I ended up S-ranking and Three Stars-ing the entire campaign (all 10 missions lol) on Normal and Hard, which I pretty much never do. God this game is such a great "7/10, fans of the genre will enjoy" game. It's just that I understand why Bandai Namco leans the way they do whenever they choose 0079 adjacent periods for the games. That's not to say a dope Zeta era and beyond game can't be done, however. And mobile suits themselves have differences that are less pronounced and harder to display than ones from earlier on. You lose out on that ground level aspect whereas with something older you're able to technically have both if you really want to. Something that makes designing interesting missions and scenarios a lot harder. Once you go beyond Zeta, you end up with a lot of faster paced dog fights/aerial combat with little interaction with the ground regardless of whether it is set in space or on Earth. A time period where mobile suit combat on solid ground surfaces is still very common. Regardless, my point with bringing that up is to say that from a gameplay standpoint, it's a lot easier to create a Gundam game in a time period where each mobile suit has very clear limitations, specialties and differences in mobility. Obviously anime-wise that descriptor includes more. Click to shrink. For the purposes of this conversation, I was pretty much referring to anything before 0087 or Zeta basically.
